I consider a purchase of a mustek dv4000 digital camera.
It has an advantage since for only 150$ it gives a 32MB card and more important indeed: It writes to it compressed video which enables this low-price camera to have a recording time in 640x480 of 40 minutes for a 256 MB card.
Now, I`m afraid there might be a drawback and that is that it uses ASF to compress. I`m Positive It`s MPEG-4 though I`m not sure if it`s V1, V2 or V3. I`ve heard that the other format of ASF that I believe is called WMV, is not convertable to any other codec unless by re-encoding , but I think I don`t have to deal here with the WMV monster.
The problem is that I`ve heard some bad talk also about MPEG-4 V1 and perhaps of V2 and V3 and would like to get to the bottom of it before I find myself stuck with a nasty codec.
Thanks.
